The ICCP was established in 1973 by the major Professional Associations as a central standards body, testing and credentialing IT professionals in North America, and today it provides these international credentials worldwide and the US Department of Labor uses the CCP to assess professional competency of professionals migrating to the USA. The founding members of ICCP were: ACM, CIPS, DPMA-AITP, and IEEE. Today the ICCP (www.iccp.org) along with 6 constituent societies offers the highest standard in objective employee assessment - "the standard that all others covet" ICCP © 2010.

The ICCP-Intel Employee assessment and credentialing project was initiated in December 2009 with a discussion between ICCP and Intel in the Swindon - UK facility.
